I have selected the brand Samsung for my topic. I have chosen them because I own many Samsung products and i am also interested in understanding how they dominate  the technology industry. Their value proposition is "Quality, Design and Price". People have been talking a lot of good things about Samsung.

Topic 2: The article I have chosen is about Samsung's new 8 point battery safety check for all new devices to ensure customers that their phones are in safe hands. The marketing issue at hand is to re brand the level of safety of Samsung mobile after debacle of the bursting Samsung Galaxy 7 Note which made a lot of consumers think twice or not even buy the phone due to safety reasons. This marketing challenge was addressed by introducing a new 8 point safety check for all their devices to ensure to their customers that the phones are made safely and go through intensive security checks to prevent phones from bursting into flames. The problem which made the phones burst into flames was due to a faulty battery which led to 96% of the 300 million Note 7's sold. This was a major setback for a company which is known for their quality assurance. The company used 70,000 employees who tested over 200,000 devices and 30,000 batteries to find the solution. The solution was an intensive battery check which involved a durability test, visual test, x-ray test, charge and discharge test, accelerated usage test, OCV test, dissembling test and a TVOC test. This has raised the industry standard for testing a product for safety. Samsung promises to continue to be an innovative company but also assure safety at the same time. Samsung's value proposition is Quality, Design and Product. This marketing response was successful as it stuck to its value proposition and delivered. It also helped consumers regain confidence in the brand. They key takeaway from this is that if a company focuses on its value proposition they will succeed in achieving their goal.
